When you think of all the things you have
to take care of before you move, it can seem overwhelming. Fortunately, there
are ways to make it less stressful.
Moving Tips
- Make sure all your boxes have lids. Label all
the boxes (Kitchen, Living Room, Bedroom, etc…) which makes
it easier to move and unpack into your new home.
- Ensure all necessary and/or fragile items are
packed PRIOR to moving day. Although many people elect to do
their own packing, many drivers and loading crews are faced with packing
services, which will increase the time. We all know that time is
money!!!
- Ensure fragile items are wrapped in ample
paper or padding to prevent breakage during your move.
- Heavy items such as books, canned goods and
records should be packed in 1.5 cubic feet boxes which will reduce the
weight of the boxes.
- Pack boxes to capacity to avoid crushing when
stacked in a moving van or left in storage.
- Please avoid using plastic bags for packing;
however non-fragile items such as stuffed animals, sofa cushions,
pillows or blankets, etc. may be placed in plastic bags for extra
precautionary measures against soiling.
- Computer equipment, stereos, and other
electronic Items should be disassembled prior to moving day. We can do
this for you, but it does take up more time than it's worth paying for.
- Reserve parking for the moving van as close to
the front door as possible, at both your old place and your new one. The
farther we have to carry your stuff, the longer it takes, and the more
it will cost you.
Hope these tips are helpful, if you have
any other questions during your packing, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
